KCFF DOC FACTORY

Education and mentorship for emerging documentary filmmakers

KCFF’s Doc Factory is a hands-on program providing training and foundational knowledge about the latest documentary film trends. Through a combination of lectures and screenings, participants will learn about the most influential documentary film movements and their leading figures. They will also receive practical training to improve their film production skills as they pursue short film projects to be premiered at KCFF’s 27th Festival! Applicants from all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Previous filmmaking or artistic experience is valued but not required.

For 2026, KCFF is proud to welcome TD Ready Commitment as the Doc Factory’s first ever Presenting Sponsor. We also welcome two new Supporting Sponsors: Cogeco, our long-time Festival partner, and 50 Year Dream Productions, the production company of local filmmaker Mike Jourard, who participated in the inaugural Doc Factory cohort in 2024-2025! We are deeply honoured and grateful to have their support as we continue to strive towards our goal of supporting local filmmakers and promoting doc filmmaking in the Kingston area.
