Two determined girls from different corners of the world share an incredible adventure in this delightful family film Arnait, the Nunavut women’s film collective behind such films as Before Tomorrow, SOL, and Uvanga. Tia (Tia Bshara) is a 10-year-old Syrian refugee who discovers a magical portal in her family’s Montreal corner store that transports her to the Arctic. There, she meets Piujuq (Nuvvija Tulugarjuk), a new friend who’s eager to introduce her to the games and stories of the Inuit. But the girls’ bond is soon imperiled by a mysterious spirit. An actress, filmmaker and TV host from Iglooik now based in Montreal, co-writer and director Lucy Tulugarjuk draws deep from her own experiences as a storyteller and global ambassador for Inuit culture to craft a warm and engaging tale with a vital message about the value of curiosity and connection across cultures.
