Arguably Canada’s most beloved actor, Gordon Pinsent gets the tribute he so richly deserves in this warm and winning documentary.  THE RIVER OF MY DREAMS traces his trajectory from his Newfoundland boyhood to his rise to prominence on Stratford’s stage to his times in Hollywood and back in Canada, where films like THE ROWDYMAN and his TV mini-series JOHN AND THE MISSUS fostered a sense of confidence for English Canadian screen drama.  His performance in Sarah Polley’s AWAY FROM HER (KCFF’07) was a testament to his prowess and charisma in his golden years, too.  The documentary just as clearly demonstrates the skills of filmmaker Brigitte Berman, the Academy Award-winning Queen’s University alumnus whose previous works at the festival include HUGH HEFNER: PLAYBOY, ACTIVIST & REBEL (KCFF’10).
