Eoin O’Callaghan

Broadcaster
Celtic Soul

Eoin has close to 10 years experience working at the highest level of sports broadcasting in Europe and North America.

Starting out as a TV sports researcher with Irish national broadcaster RTÉ, he primarily assisted in the station’s coverage of the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League, as well as games involving the Ireland national team.

Eoin then moved across to RTÉ Radio Sport to pursue broadcasting work. There, he presented many live sports news bulletins, reported frequently from soccer games, contributed heavily to weekend sports output by producing feature items and assisted in the production of a daily, ‘drive-time’ sports show.

After developing his broadcast skills in radio, he became a frequent reporter for RTÉ TV Sport’s ‘Monday Night Soccer’ programme in 2008. While with RTÉ, he covered key global sports events including the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the 2006 Ryder Cup and the 2008 Bejing Olympics.

After a stint as a presenter and producer with national radio station Newstalk, Eoin moved to North America in late 2009. Settling in Vancouver, he provided extensive coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games for both RTE and the BBC.

In June 2010, he landed a coveted hosting role with ‘Fox Soccer Report’, Fox Soccer’s flagship TV show, broadcasting nightly across the USA, Canada and the Caribbean to over 40 million people. The highlight of his time with FOX came in May 2012 when he covered the Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Chelsea, Spending eight days on location in Bavaria and filing as many as three feature stories per day for broadcast on Fox Soccer Report. Eoin also contributed to FOX Soccer’s game-specific broadcasts (a Friday night preview show and Saturday’s live coverage) as a sideline reporter.

Since returning to Ireland in late 2012, Eoin has reported extensively on TV and radio for RTÉ, BBC and Setanta Sports while he has written for various outlets on both sides of the Atlantic including The Irish Examiner, TheScore.ie, beINsports, One World Sports and Yahoo.
