Blue Rodeo: Lost Together Selected as Closing Night Film for the 25th Kingston Canadian Film Festival

KINGSTON, ON (Jan. 13, 2025) – Award-winning documentary Blue Rodeo: Lost Together has been selected as the gala closing night film for the Kingston Canadian Film Festival (KCFF25), it was announced today. Jim Cuddy, Queen’s Artsci ’83 and LLD ’15, returns to Kingston along with Blue Rodeo co-founder Greg Keelor for a film offering a guided tour through the history of one of Canada’s most-venerated bands. The screening on Sunday, March 2 is the culmination of the 25th anniversary edition of the world’s largest all-Canadian film and cultural festival. Tickets are on sale now at Kingston’s Grand Theatre box office.

Winner of the Audience Award at the Whistler Film Festival, director Dale Heslip’s vivid Lost Together enjoyably traces Blue Rodeo’s journey from Toronto’s Queen Street West, where it all began, to the stages they now claim as their own four decades later. In between came many peaks and valleys, but those experiences just seemed to make them stronger, most certainly as a result of the deep personal and creative bond that was first forged at North Toronto Collegiate Institute between co-founders Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, who narrate the film.

Cuddy and Keelor are candid and compelling interview subjects as they – along with their bandmates and many others who have come along for the ride — share four decades worth of memories and music,” said Jason Anderson, Head Features Programmer, KCFF. “Lost Together is a film to be savoured by both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

The announcement comes following last week’s selection of Sophie’s Deraspe’s Shepherds as KCFF25’s gala opening night film on Wednesday, February 26 at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts. KCFF25’s full festival lineup will be announced on January 31.

In addition to exclusive Canadian films, KCFF25 boasts non-stop Q&As, music, comedy, videos, workshops, and parties at venues ranging from the historic Grand Theatre, architectural marvel The Isabel, and local cinema treasure The Screening Room, to beloved cultural space the Broom Factory and multiple downtown bars and restaurants.

The 2025 Kingston Canadian Film Festival is presented by TD and the Tourism Kingston. Major sponsors also include Cogeco, Downtown Kingston BIA, ACFOMI, and the Slaight Family Foundation. Join the KCFF Circle of Supporters here or donate here.
