Adapted by Julia Lederer from her own delightfully odd stage play, this feature debut by Kim Albright claims a place of its own thanks to its unique blend of absurdist comedy, poignant love story and satirical-minded science fiction. Anna Maguire stars as Anabel, a lonely woman living in an alternate world in which humankind manages its emotional burdens in a variety of surprising ways. Indeed, it can all feel like too much for Anabel until she literally gives her heart to George (Hamza Haq of TV’s Transplant), the object of her affection. Her act proves to be life-changing for them both, as well as one in a series of the strange but marvelous events that fill Albright’s film, a prizewinner at the Reelworld, Whistler and Santa Fe festivals.
