With her new short, Jennifer Law-Smith uses serene harbourfront views to emphasize the contrasts between different forms of life existing side by side. By doing so, she quietly and precisely explores themes of interior and exterior space, along with the many meanings of solitude. Part of Law-Smith’s inspiration was a family relative who worked as a psychologist in the prison seen in this film, which serves as a unique visual study of Kingston – a dialogue-free meditation on place.
