Kingston Canadian Film Festival launches 2024 lineup at new venue with the assistance of Ontario Trillium Foundation grant

Kingston, ON – On Friday, February 2, 2024, Kingston and the Islands MPP Ted Hsu joined the team at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival to launch the KCFF24 lineup and tour the Broom Factory, a new venue opened with the assistance of a grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Resilient Communities grant facilitated the hiring of a venue manager for the Broom, allowing the venue to open bookings for other community and arts groups.

The Broom Factory is a new 210-person venue in Kingston’s Inner Harbour community. OTF funds were used to hire a full-time manager for the venue and assisted with production fees for arts & community groups using the venue.

“Funding creative spaces like the Broom Factory is crucial to the Kingston arts scene. Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation grant, the Kingston Canadian Film Festival has a well-staffed, accessible venue to entertain and inspire those in our community,” said Ted Hsu, MPP for Kingston and the Islands.

The Kingston Canadian Film Festival is a charitable cultural organization presenting screenings, workshops, Q&As, and events reflecting the diversity and range of our national cinema and its creators. They present year-round programming at the Broom Factory, and their annual festival runs from February 28 – March 3, 2024. For more information, head to www.kingcanfilmfest.com.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s mission is to build healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario. As an agency of the Government of Ontario and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, last year OTF invested over $110M into 1,022 community projects and partnerships.
