Attending a festival is a bit of a balancing act: you’re juggling film schedules and travel times, building in time for special events and downtime to regroup for the next day; that’s what makes a festival such a blast! Our schedule features a number of activities happening simultaneously which means you can explore your favourite genres or discover new ones, check out films from Oscar winners or emerging filmmakers, or grab a beer and chat with an industry guest. Whatever you decide, it all happens at KCFF.
Each year we welcome new and returning audiences to Kingston to see some of the best Canadian cinema of the year. Our festival is like our city: warm, down-to-earth, and approachable. The majority of our venues are in Kingston’s historic downtown and within walking distance or close proximity to one another. Along the way you’ll find a range of incredible restaurants, cafes and pubs from fine dining to quick grab-and-get-back-to-the-festival fare. We hope that you’ll make the most of your visit to KCFF and enjoy everything our city has to offer… that is, in your downtime when you’re not watching movies, of course!

All of the venues have concession stands with popcorn, candy and other treats available. Plus our screening venues are licensed to sell liquor for the duration of the festival with proceeds from sales supporting KCFF, so you can grab a bottle of Steam Whistle to enjoy before (and during) the show! We can only accept cash for concessions and booze so we’d recommend visiting an ATM before you arrive.
For those of you on a Canadian movie marathon finding time for a sit-down meal can be a bit of a challenge. If you’re powering through and don’t plan to take a break for dinner or lunch, we’d recommend packing a sandwich or light-meal. Although outside food is not permitted in the theatres, there are lots of areas available in the lobbies of all venues where you can refuel in time for your next flick!
Centred in and around historic downtown Kingston, KCFF venues boast cozy theatres for catching great Canadian flicks. These are our three main screening venues but we also have a comprehensive list of Festival venues with maps you can grab on your phone, directions, and information about parking.
