Opening Night Film: MEDITATION PARK

Opening Night Film: MEDITATION PARK

THURSDAY, MARCH 1 / 7 PM / ISABEL BADER

KCFF is thrilled to launch the festival with MEDITATION PARK another smart, touching and highly enjoyable feature by Mina Shum, one of Canada’s most celebrated filmmakers.  Featuring Sandra Oh and Hong Kong cinema legend Cheng Pei Pei who plays Maria, a woman who suspects that her seemingly steadfast husband Bing is having an affair. Her decidedly amateur investigation into her hubby’s habits soon gets her mixed up in the lives of many other people, including a neighbour played by Don McKellar. Full of warmth and generosity, MEDITATION PARK is a testament to Shum’s talents as a writer and director.

Director Mina Shum is flying in from Vancouver to kick-off KCFF’18.  She’ll be at the Isabel for a Q+A following MEDITATION PARK and the next morning, we are screening her documentary NINTH FLOOR.
