KCFF offers a number of internship opportunities each season. Running from October to mid-March, KCFF internships offer the opportunity to:
meet people in the film industry,
learn about festival administration,
and gain valuable work experience.
Queen's University students may be eligible for a FILM 390 credit or paid Work Study position
Because KCFF is a small organization, our interns are key members of our staff. Each intern will have the opportunity to manage their own projects, interact with industry professionals and manage their time to complete assignments. The internship is fast-paced and challenging, but also really fun. Past interns have gone on to attain employment with: the Toronto International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, CBC, Movieola, and lots more!
Administrative Interns - Admin interns are involved in everything from event planning, our Local Shorts Program, web writing, press and public relations, and managing volunteers at the festival. We're looking for a quick learner with great organizational skills, ease with computers, confidence and a love of film.
Hospitality Interns - Hospitality interns makes sure industry guests are comfortable during their stay in Kingston. Duties include: organizing receptions, facilitating guest travel and accommodations, procuring sponsorships for our hospitality suite, liaising with special guests, and assisting with various social and networking functions during the festival. We're looking for someone with great people skills, confidence and a love of film. Smart Serve is an asset, but not required.
Production Interns - Production interns film clips that are played before screenings at the festival. Those clips include interviews with our sponsors, events happening at the festival itself and behind the scenes clips of our guests and events. In 2013-14, the Production Interns created the trailer that was played thousands of times in advance of the festival. We're looking for someone with production experience and a creative eye for film, a self-starter, and someone who is at ease with interviewing and meeting new people.
Sponsorship Interns - Sponsorship interns are responsible for marketing the festival to the retail community. Duties include: overseeing the Festival Auction, fundraising, meeting new clients, and ensuring the event is promoted. The Sponsorship Interns liaise with our sponsors during the festival to make sure their needs are met and that any "event activations" are properly in place. We’re looking for applicants who consider themselves personable, with strong writing skills and the ability to represent the festival well in the public eye.
